This body of work is a visual exploration of the innate connection between our memories and the places we grow up within. By considering subject matter that relates to my own memory of the routes I took to school, I have taken a series of images that I hope encapsulate the landscape of ‘home’.
Our perceptions of place can be fragmented as the current landscape is everchanging. Therefore, this calls me to question my own recollected memory of the places I used to walk, because the memories I have belong to another moment in time. So how far can we rely on nostalgia to unearth our understanding of landscapes, when the landscape is part of the present, and these memories belong to the past?
